Yes. Fretscape's Free tier is a genuine chord tool, not a 14-day trial that locks you out. You can keep using it without paying anything. Pro is a one-time purchase that unlocks the rest of what's in the chord tool today — you pay for it once, not every month.

What you get on Free

The Free tier is enough to be useful on its own. You can search any chord, see up to 5 voicings with 2 fingering options each, and play them back through your device. The Progression Builder is included — add chords, hear them, and Fretscape will detect what key you're in as you go. The reverse chord lookup is included too: tap fret positions on a virtual neck and Fretscape names the chord.

Basic filters cover difficulty, fret range, and voicing type. You can save up to 10 favourites across 3 collections. Tuning is Standard.

What Pro adds

Pro is for when you want the rest of what's in the chord tool today:

  • Unlimited voicings per chord, not just 5.
  • Unlimited fingering options per voicing.
  • All 16 preset tunings — Drop D, DADGAD, Open G, and the rest — plus the ability to create your own custom tunings.
  • Capo support.
  • The full Progression Optimiser with transition scoring and linked variations.
  • All the narrow-down filters: which strings, which fingers, inversions, bass note, hide barre chords, and more.
  • Unlimited favourites and collections.

How payment works

Pro is a one-time purchase of — paid once, not every month. There's no auto-renewal on Pro and no "annual plan" to cancel.

If you change your mind, Pro is covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee, no questions asked. Email help@fretscape.com within 30 days and we'll refund you. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.
