Your tuning lives in Settings. Open Settings, pick a tuning from the Tuning list, and press Save Changes — every chord diagram in the app updates to match. Standard tuning is free; the other tunings are a Pro feature.

Change your tuning

  • Open Settings — tap the cog icon in the floating toolbar at the bottom of the app.
  • At the top, under Tuning, tap the dropdown showing your current tuning (Standard — E A D G B E by default).
  • Pick a tuning from the list. They're grouped — Standard, Drop, Open, Alternate, and Experimental — so scroll to find the one you want. See which tunings are supported for the full list.
  • Press Save Changes.

Every voicing, diagram, and chord calculation now assumes that tuning. The string names under each diagram change to match — so in Drop D the lowest string reads D instead of E.

If the shapes suddenly look unfamiliar, that's expected — see why your chords look different.

Want your own tuning?

If none of the presets fit how you tune your guitar, you can build your own and save it — see Can I create a custom tuning?.

If the list is greyed out

On the Free tier, Standard is the only tuning you can pick — the rest of the list is there but greyed out and marked Pro. Why can't I select a different tuning? explains what's free and what's Pro.

Your tuning is saved to your account, so it follows you between the web and the Android app once you're signed in.
