When you delete your Fretscape account, your sign-in details, display name, email, chord preferences, saved progressions, favourites, and our billing record for your account are all removed immediately. Anonymous usage data that was already collected can't be undone, and your purchase records stay with the payment service you used. Full breakdown below.

The full version of this also lives on the Account Deletion page — this article walks through it in plainer language. For the full legal text, see the Privacy Policy.

Deleted immediately

The moment deletion completes, Fretscape removes:

  • Your sign-in details — your password (if you set one), your Google account link, and any active sign-ins you had on your devices.
  • Your display name and email address — your visible profile fields.
  • Your chord preferences and saved settings — tuning, capo position, instrument sound, notation system, language, theme, and any other in-app choices.
  • Your saved progressions and favourites — every chord and progression you've ever saved on the account.
  • Our billing record for your account — which plan you were on, when you upgraded, and so on.

After this step, there is no copy of any of the above on Fretscape's side. We genuinely cannot get it back for you if you change your mind — please be sure before you delete.

Retained, but not linkable to you

Two categories of data can't be retroactively unpicked, but neither identifies you personally:

  • Anonymous usage data already collected. Fretscape uses Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to see which features get used and where the rough edges are. These tools record activity under a random visitor ID — not your email or name. Activity that was already recorded stays in those tools, but there's no way to trace it back to your deleted account afterwards.

For more on what's collected and how to opt out, see the Privacy Policy and the Cookies page.

Billing records

Purchases are handled by outside services. We don't hold your card details ourselves, and we can't delete records from their systems:

  • Stripe (web purchases), Google Play (Android purchases), and Apple (iOS purchases, once iOS ships) each keep their own records of any payment you made.
  • Fretscape may also keep a basic summary of each purchase — total, date, country, currency, with no personal details attached — for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

If you need a copy of your purchase history, contact the service you paid through. They can usually send you receipts and invoices on request.

What's not affected

  • Your Google account (if you signed in with Google) — that's a Google product, untouched.
  • Other devices you're signed in on — they'll be kicked out next time they reach a Fretscape server, but the devices themselves are fine.
  • Future sign-ups with the same email — you can create a fresh account later. It'll be a clean Free-tier account with nothing carried over.

Refunds

If you bought Pro and want a refund alongside (or instead of) deletion, email help@fretscape.com before deleting — Fretscape offers a 30-day money-back guarantee. See the pricing page for the full policy.

Questions

If you want to know exactly what we hold on you, or have a specific concern about data after deletion, email help@fretscape.com. We respond within a couple of working days.
