Recherche d'accordsDépannageFiltres

If the result list shows "No voicings found. Try adjusting your filters" after a search, the filters are almost certainly the cause — not the chord. Fretscape's chord engine recognises a wide range of names, including jazz extensions and altered chords. The far more common reason for an empty list is a combination of filters that no voicing of that chord can satisfy.

The quick fix

Open the Filters panel and tap Reset All Filters at the top. The result list refills with the full set of voicings for the chord. From there, narrow down one filter at a time until you find the constraint that was emptying the list.

Common culprits

Some filters rule out a lot of voicings on their own. Combined, they rule out even more:

  • Open chords only + a chord with no open voicing. F, Bb, and most jazz extensions don't have an open shape in standard tuning. Switching this off usually brings results back. See How do I see only open chords?.
  • Allow barre off + a chord that's typically barred. Same chords as above — F, Bb, anything that normally needs a full barre. Toggle Allow barre back on.
  • A very tight Max Fret Span. Setting Max Fret Span to 1 or 2 rules out most movable shapes. Try 3 or 4 before going lower.
  • Strings filter set to Exact with too few or too many strings ticked. Switch to At Least, or untick the strings you didn't mean to require.
  • Difficulty set to Beginner on a chord that has no Beginner fingering. Raising to Intermediate often brings results back — Difficulty also limits which fingerings each shape is allowed to use, so a chord with nothing on Beginner can still have plenty on higher levels. See What do Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced mean?.

Spotting which filters are doing it

A small badge appears next to the Filters button when filters are active, and another badge appears next to each section inside the panel (Position, Shape & Sound, and so on). That tells you which sections to look in first.

Chord names Fretscape doesn't recognise

It's possible to type a chord name Fretscape can't read, but it's rare in practice — Fretscape accepts a long list of standard, jazz, and altered notations. If you suspect that's the issue:

  • Check for typos in the root note (Cv instead of C).
  • Try a shorter form of the same chord (Cm7 instead of Cmin7, or Cmaj7 instead of CM7).
  • Use the chord builder buttons above the search box to construct the chord — Fretscape assembles a name it definitely understands. See the Chord Builder category if you're new to the builder.

Still no voicings?

If you've reset every filter, tried the chord builder, and still get nothing, email help@fretscape.com with the chord name you searched and a screenshot of the empty result list. We'll take a look.
