When you tap Sign in with Google in the Fretscape Android app, your phone's browser opens for a few seconds while Google checks who you are. This isn't a bug — it's how Google requires apps to handle sign-in. Once you've signed in, Android closes the browser and drops you back into Fretscape.
What's happening behind the scenes
Google no longer lets apps put the Google sign-in form inside themselves. They want sign-in to happen in your real browser, where you can see the address bar and trust that the page is genuinely Google. So the Fretscape app hands you over to Chrome (or whichever browser is set as your default), Google takes over for a moment, and then Android sends you back.
The hand-back uses a deep link — a special Fretscape URL that your phone recognises as belonging to the app, so it knows where to send you.
What you need to do
Just sign in normally. After you tap Sign in with Google:
- Your browser opens to Google's sign-in page.
- Pick your Google account (or sign in if you're not already).
- Approve sharing your email and name with Fretscape — this is what links your Google account to your Fretscape account.
- Your phone closes the browser tab and reopens the Fretscape app, already signed in.
The whole thing usually takes a few seconds.
If it doesn't bring you back
If you've signed into Google but the Fretscape app doesn't reopen on its own, switch back to it manually — find Fretscape in your recent apps (usually the square or three-line button at the bottom of your screen, or a swipe up from the bottom on newer phones). You should already be signed in.
