The Fretscape Android app needs Android 7.0 (Nougat) or newer. If your phone runs anything older, the app won't install — but you can still use Fretscape in any modern mobile browser.

How to check your Android version

Open your phone's Settings, then About phone (some phones call it About device or System). Look for Android version. If it's 7.0 or higher, you're fine.

I have an older phone — can I still use Fretscape?

Yes. Open Chrome, Firefox, or any other modern browser on your phone and go to fretscape.com. Sign in and you have the full app. See What browsers and devices are supported? for the full list.

You'll miss the convenience of an app icon on your home screen, but every Fretscape feature works in the browser.

Why 7.0?

Android 7.0 has been around since 2016 and covers the very large majority of phones still in active use. Supporting older versions would mean shipping a slower, less reliable app for everyone else. Older phones can still reach Fretscape through the browser, so nobody is locked out — they just take a slightly different route in.

Getting the app

Once you've confirmed your Android version, install the Fretscape app from Google Play. If you've already got a Fretscape account, sign in with the same email and everything you've saved (chords, progressions, favourites, Pro unlock) shows up. If you're new, create an account inside the app — it takes under a minute.
