播放音频故障排查移动端

If you tap play on a voicing and do not hear anything, work through the checks below.

Check volume and mute settings

First, make sure media audio is not muted.

  • Phone or tablet: raise the volume while Fretscape is trying to play a chord. On iPhone, also check the silent switch.
  • Laptop or desktop: check the system volume, the selected output device, and whether the browser tab or site has been muted.

Check the audio output

Your device may be sending audio somewhere else.

  • Disconnect Bluetooth headphones, speakers, or car audio you are not using.
  • On desktop, check your system sound settings and make sure the expected output device is selected.

Wait for the first sound to load

The first playback after opening Fretscape may need a moment to load the guitar sound.

When this is happening, the play button shows a spinner and other play buttons are temporarily disabled. Once this process has been completed once, following previews will play near instantly until the page is refreshed or app is restarted, at which point we have to reload the sounds.

Refresh or restart

If playback still does not start:

  • On the web, do a hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows/Linux or Cmd+Shift+R on Mac.
  • In the Android app, close Fretscape fully and open it again.

Try a supported browser

If you are using the web app, try a current version of Chrome, Edge, Safari, or Firefox. Some older browsers and in-app browsers do not handle web audio reliably.

See Supported browsers and devices for the full list.

Still no sound?

Email help@fretscape.com and include:

  • Whether you are using the web app or Android app
  • Your browser and version, or your Android version
  • Whether other audio works on the same device
  • Whether playback used to work and then stopped

That gives us enough detail to investigate.
